CLUBS
Opium
The hottest place to spot models, sip cocktails and boogie the night away in the Mother City. Beautiful people from all over the world come for the big dance floors, classy furniture and funky house music. Very upmarket but still gets rowdy as the night progresses. Prepare to drool. R50 gets you in.

The Fez
The oldest club in Cape Town, the Fez faithful always consists of UCT students checking out “town” and locals who’ve been doing it forever. The dance floor is always full but the Moroccan themed VIP area upstairs is much cooler. Still the best place to dance all night for R40.

Rhodes House
Once regarded as the place to be in Cape Town and voted by Wallpaper magazine as one of the hottest nightspots in the world, here you can check out famous people, wealthy men and skinny models. There are big, open spaces downstairs and private rooms upstairs. Hip hop nights on Thursdays are still the best with no cover charge.

Joburg
The trendiest, coolest bar in town. Electro music most nights with a small dance floor and pool tables in the back. Just about any night is good for a drink, a dance or a deep conversation with complete strangers. Not much room inside, but people make do. Try the absinthe, if you’re strong.
