EATING OUT
Spice on Florida
Hidden on Florida Road, Spice should not be passed up. What would Durban be without excellent Indian food? Spice is a well-decorated space with interesting combinations of fusion food using fruit, cheeses and delicate spices.

Cat-Man-Du
A stylish and festive place offering excellent value for money. The menu has everything you want from fish, Mediterranean, a good steak…anything! And portions are usually too big to finish. The barmen are South Africa’s best and the service is great. One of the better restaurants in Durbs and always a good party follows.

Bean Bag Bohemia
A larny joint with an elaborate and quaint interior. There’s excellent food but you’ll have bucks for it. The crowd is very trendy and arty. Open until late so enjoy the famous cocktails. A well known place in Durbs that the locals flock to on weekends.

CLUBS
Skyy Bar
Four floors up and with a view of Durban city, Skyy Bar has inside and balcony dance floors and plays good house music – Mimi Kesaris started here. The dance floor gets sweaty, but the huge bars make up for it. The lift is a schlep but the vibe is cool.
25 Silver Avenue, Morningside
The Reform Club
One of the slickest clubs in this guide and a touch of class that was desperately needed in Durban. Wooden finishes, long staircases with photo frames on the wall with a sexy crowd sipping on Cosmopolitans. Saturdays are highly recommended hip-hop nights.

Tilt
Recent venue for the South African MTV party, Tilt is a smoking hot hip-hop and kwaito club with house DJs making up the compliment. Two levels of partying with place to chill out but expensive liquor behind the bar.

BARS
Zeta Bar
A super styling lounge that’s perfect to spend the whole night chilling out in. Plush suede couches, a dazzling bar and funky music make this place cool, but the laid-back vibe and good service make it great. Arguably the best bar in Durban.

Tiger Tiger
It’s not pretty, but it’s fun. Absolutely no dress code and drinks specials all the time. Tiger Tiger is the most popular student hang-out in Durban and is very easy to find – right next to Greyville race course. Senseless fun and all types of music.

Johnnie Fox's
A great blend of food, drinks and beautiful people. Johnnie’s is a step up from the usual beach wear bars and a good place to enjoy a few drinks with sophisticated people and the best looking girls in Durban.
